Terms and Conditions

Electronics Editor Repair Policy

1. How to Get Started (The Basics)

To keep things honest and simple, I follow a straightforward process for all repairs:

  • By Appointment Only: Please contact me to schedule a time to drop off your unit.
  • Cash Only: I strictly accept cash for all deposits and final payments.
  • Upfront Deposit: A $60 non-refundable deposit is required at the time of drop-off. This covers my time for the initial teardown and diagnostic and will be applied toward your final bill.

2. The Diagnostic & Parts Process

Repairing electronics often requires a step-by-step approach.

  • Staged Repairs: Sometimes, I must order and install a specific part just to “see” further into the machine and determine if a full fix is possible.
  • Customer Responsibility: Customers are responsible for the cost of these diagnostic parts as they are ordered, regardless of the final outcome. I don’t “guess” at prices; I use actual parts to find the real solution.

3. Drop-Off Checklist

Please bring the following with your unit:

  • All Power Cables & Adapters (many issues are power-related).
  • Relevant Accessories (remotes, controllers, or specific attachments).
  • A Brief History of when the problem started.

4. After the Repair

  • 30-Day Limited Warranty: I stand behind my work. If the specific issue I fixed returns within 30 days, I will make it right at no additional labor cost. (Does not cover new issues, accidental damage, or tampering). If it requires additional parts I didn’t originally install, the customer is responsible for the cost of those new parts.
  • Pick-up & Abandonment: Please pick up your items within 30 days of completion. Items left for more than 60 days without communication will be considered abandoned and may be sold or disposed of to clear space.

5. Important Disclaimers

  • Property Damage: While I take every precaution to handle your equipment with care, I am not responsible for any damage caused by the unit’s failure, including but not limited to power surges, fire, or other incidental damages once the unit leaves my premises.
  • Data Loss: For electronics with storage (computers, consoles, etc.), data backup is the customer’s responsibility. I am not liable for any lost files, photos, or software during the diagnostic or repair process. Please back up your data before drop-off.
  • Pre-existing Conditions: Many units brought in for repair already have internal “hidden” damage. I am not responsible if a unit fails completely during the diagnostic process due to its unstable condition.
  • Agreement: By dropping off your equipment, you agree to all terms and policies listed above.

Refund Policy: All sales are final. The initial $60 diagnostic fee is non-refundable as it covers the labor and time required to assess the unit. If a repair fails within the 30-day warranty period, I will work to correct the specific issue; however, cash refunds are not issued for parts or labor once the service is complete.

Please note: I do not provide formal receipts. This is a small-scale, cash-only hobby service.

Agreement of Terms
By scheduling an appointment and dropping off your equipment for repair, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the policies listed above, including the non-refundable $60 deposit, the cash-only payment policy, the 30-day limited warranty, and the limitation of liability.
